OFFSEASON CHECKLIST: Coaching hire is BIGGEST decision | Small roster choices have big outcomes

The Orlando Magic are inching closer to hiring a new coach with Jeff Van Gundy, Billy Donovan and Sean Sweeney the only reported names on the Magic's list. This is the big decision of the offseason and the first domino that must fall for the team this offseason. Everything else the Magic need to accomplish is waiting for this decision to be made. While the Magic's process is not taking any longer than it normally would, the delay has consequences. The Magic have already begun to lose key assistant coaches that a new coach might want to retain to other jobs. And a new coach will need to put together his staff quickly ahead of a busy offseason. Orlando is not expected to make major changes to the roster this offseason.
