Ohio Weather 3/6 Morning - Flood Warning

from The Ohio Weather Podcast

Good morning. Ohio. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside right now and you'll feel something rare for early March. Warmth that doesn't apologize. We bottomed out at 56 degrees overnight. That's generous. But we picked up over a third of an inch of rain in the last 24 hours. And flooding concerns are still hanging around southeastern counties. Dense fog is blanketing parts of the state this morning — visibility is dropping fast. That fog lifts by mid-morning as southerly winds kick in. Now here's where it gets interesting. We're flirting with record warmth today. Down in Cincinnati, you're climbing to 78 degrees. The record? 74, set back in 1910. Columbus hits 75. Up in Cleveland, you top out at 65. Skies clear out as the day goes on. And those southerly winds gust to 20 miles an hour. Tonight stays mild. Lows drop to the low 60s statewide under partly cloudy skies. Saturday brings the drama. A cold front barrels through with showers and thunderstorms. The severe threat is highest along and east of I-33 — central Ohio, the lower Scioto Valley, northern Kentucky. Damaging winds are the main concern, with an isolated tornado threat. The line moves fast, hitting around noon and clearing out by early evening. Behind it, temperatures crash. Saturday night lows fall to the mid-40s. Sunday clears out beautifully. Highs in the upper 50s to low 60s under mostly sunny skies. Monday brings sunshine and warmth again — low 70s statewide. But the unsettled pattern returns midweek. Rain moves in Tuesday night and continues through Wednesday. Heavy downpours could bring more flooding concerns with soils already saturated. Thursday stays chilly with highs only reaching the upper 40s to low 50s. Enjoy the warmth today. It won't last. See you tomorrow.
