Ohio Weather 3/7 Morning - Flood Warning: Flip-Flops to Parkas

from The Ohio Weather Podcast

Good morning. Ohio. I'm Aaron Jolly. What a wild ride today. You step outside to 63 degrees and sunshine, but don't get used to it. Here comes a May-like preview that vanishes overnight. Central Ohio is right in the thick of it. Thunderstorms roll in by 10 A.M., peaking around 1 P.M. With a solid chance of getting soaked. You'll hit 74 degrees today — 30 degrees above normal — before reality crashes back in. Winds shift, temps drop fast. And you wake up to 46 degrees on Sunday. At least the showers taper off after midnight. Down in Southwest Ohio, the drama starts earlier. Storms fire up by 9 A.M., keeping things wet between 10 A.M. and 4 P.M. You also top out near 75 degrees. That warmth disappears tonight, though, crashing to 46 degrees. Sunday looks quieter at 63 degrees, but more storms are waiting for Tuesday. Up in Northeast Ohio, it's a cooler but still stormy scene. Rain and thunderstorms take over by 8 A.M., sticking around through 9 P.M. Highs reach 70 degrees — still 30 degrees above normal. Southwest winds howl at 12 to 18 miles an hour, gusting to 29 miles an hour. Tonight, temps plummet to 41 degrees. And Sunday stays chilly at 56 degrees. Here's your heads-up for the week ahead. Monday feels like a reprieve with 60s and low 70s statewide. But by Tuesday night, the bottom drops out. Heavy rain and thunderstorms barrel in, with winds gusting to 45 miles an hour by Wednesday. Temperatures plummet 30 degrees. We could even see rain transition to snow up north Wednesday night, with lows near 30. If you're near Trumbull County, watch Eagle Creek closely. It's already running high, so never try to drive through flooded roads. Enjoy the daylight while you can — we're gaining 2 minutes and 38 seconds of sunshine today. See you tomorrow. See you this afternoon.
