Ohio Weather March 3 Evening - 35° Above Normal

from The Ohio Weather Podcast

Good evening. Ohio. I'm Aaron Jolly. That steady drumming on the roof overnight? That was just the opening act. We picked up about a tenth of an inch, but the main feature is rolling in now. And folks, we're looking at a classic Ohio split today. Down in Southwest Ohio, you're waking up to a mild 50 degrees under heavy gray skies. Head up toward Columbus and the thermometer drops to 44. Push further north into Northeast Ohio. And you're sitting at a raw 35 degrees. That damp air cuts right through your jacket. In the next 24 hours. Here's the situation. Rain spreads statewide this evening and really picks up steam after midnight. The southwest gets the worst of it — one to two inches is possible, with rumbles of thunder rolling through around 3 A.M. Central Ohio sees a solid soaking, up to three quarters of an inch. Up north, the totals are lighter, but keep an eye out for patchy fog developing late tonight. It could make for a slick Thursday morning commute. A quick heads-up if you live near Evendale. A Flood Warning is in effect for Mill Creek in Hamilton County. Minor flooding is expected late tonight through Wednesday afternoon. If you usually take Sharon or Mosteller Roads, you might want to find a different way around. Wednesday turns wet and noticeably warmer. The southwest surges toward 64 degrees. Central Ohio hits 57. Even the northeast climbs to 49. But hold onto your hats — the real story is the heat coming later this week. By Friday, southwest Ohio could hit 79 degrees. That's nearly 35 degrees above normal. The trade-off is a wet, stormy pattern hanging around right through the weekend. You won't see much of the full moon tonight with all this cloud cover. Still, we're gaining over two minutes of daylight every day. Spring is just two weeks away. Keep that umbrella within reach. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. Take care That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
