OMA survey finds healthcare worker COVID-19 burnout doubles in nine months
from The Morning Show with Devon Peacock · host Corus Radio
A survey done by the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) in March 2021 found about 35 per cent of those working in healthcare admitted having feelings of burnout related to COVID-19. In December, the Hamilton Academy of Medicine held its HAM Monthly continuing medical education event, where healthcare professionals were asked how they are coping with COVID-19. The results show that COVID-19 related burnout and fatigue have increased to 72 per cent and 78 per cent respectively, nearly double what was found in the March 2021 survey. Dr. Rick Tytus, the Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at McMaster University and co-founder of Banty, joins Mike Stubbs to discuss.
