Jessica Hinchliffe with the top stories.The Liberal party has conceded it must adapt if it wishes to ever gain government agaiin after losing the historically safe Coalition seat of Farrer to One Nation.One Nation candidate David Farley's thumping win in the by-election, marks the first time the party has won a Lower House seat in federal parliament.Liberal leader Angus Taylor says his party in recent times has been one of "convenience" not of "conviction".+Meanwhile overseas and tensions around the Persian Gulf and Lebanon continue to escalate, as Iran ignored US predictions that it would respond to the Trump Administration's peace proposal on Friday.Israel has stepped up attacks on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, hitting 85 in a 24-hour period.Up to 50 people have reportedly been killed, prompting Hezbollah to fire rockets into northern Israel in retaliation.The strikes reflect the Netanyahu government's push on Washington to abandon its peace track with Iran, and come on top of fresh skirmishes in the Persian Gulf, where the US hit Iranian-flagged oil tankers and the UAE came under renewed Iranian missile and drone attacks.+Passengers on board a cruise ship infected with hantavirus will soon start making their way home, including a number of Australians.The ship will anchor close to the Spanish island of Tenerife and passengers will be taken to land in smaller boats before boarding repatriation flights.So far, three people have died from the outbreak.
