One Year Since Hurricane Helene: Our Reflections

from A Rainbow In The Storm · host Katharine & Seth Sullivan-Dawes

Welcome to this bonus episode of A Rainbow in the Storm. We will continue our regularly scheduled program this Thursday with a new interview coming your way; however we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the one year anniversary since hurricane Helene swept through Western North Carolina, changing the lives of tens of thousands of people. We believe it’s important to pause and acknowledge our own feelings and processing of the past year and to reflect on our bigger community and the changes that have happened here. We also wanted to have Bradshaw on the podcast to remind us that kids are resilient and are so much more focused in the present — and have a lot to teach us. As it is also our wedding anniversary of course we have a lot to celebrate and be grateful for, but we didn’t want to let this important milestone pass without giving respect to those who lost their lives and to honor those who dedicated so much time and effort to help save many and helped us move through the devastation that ensued during and after hurricane Helene. Thank you to all who listen and please remember that we are all so lucky to be alive and to have each other. We’ll see you next Thursday! Also be sure to check out Hayley Everett’s music on her Instagram page. Her beautiful song, “What Remains is Love” is featured in the opening of this episode.
