Only part of Sligo may be added to Defective Concrete Blocks Grant Scheme

It's anticipated that Sligo will be added to the Defective Concrete Blocks Grant Scheme this year. However, it's been revealed that the County may be added 'in whole or in part', leading to concern over potentially subdividing Sligo when it comes to the scheme. Hundreds of homeowners in Sligo are thought to be affected by the issue and frustration is said to be building when seeing those in County Mayo progressing with remediation works. Speaking in the Dail, Sinn Fein Sligo Leitrim TD Martin Kenny says people need to be treated equally and that Sligo County Council need to be looking at employing additional staff. Responding, Minister of State Martin Heydon says that the process of getting Sligo onto the scheme is at an advanced stage:
