Openness to Change
from Celebrate Recovery at Peters Creek Baptist Church
Lesson Content: Cognitive Renewal & The Fear of ChangeThe Old Self and Familiar Pain: Our former way of life is corrupted by "deceitful desires." In mental health, a deceitful desire can look like a craving to isolate or stay stuck in depression because it feels predictable and safe. The Comfort of the Known: There are real emotional blocks to wellness: the fear of the unknown, and the voice of despair that whispers we don't deserve anything better than what we are currently experiencing.Hope Opens Slammed Doors: Despair slams doors. Hope opens them. Hope refuses to accept "can't." Hope discovers what CAN be done. Hope looks for a way when despair gives up.Better, Not Bitter: We are powerless to change certain painful circumstances or past trials. But, with God's help, we can allow those very situations to change us—making us better, not bitter. Hope allows our attitudes to continuously change for the better. The result of renewal: A renewed mind leads to a renewed life. New thoughts. New choices. New freedom. New future. God is not just changing your circumstances ... He's changing you.🌟 Celebrate Recovery at Peters Creek Baptist Church📍 6300 Library Road, South Park, PA Fridays at 6:30 PMAlso gathering on Mondays at 7 PM at Crossroads Ministries in Finleyville.➡️ Not local?
