On today’s episode, Rachel speaks with Katie Plunkett. Katie is an educator, who looks for alternative ways to connect with her students. Whether it be figure 8 breathing or coloring to soothe the senses, Katie thrives in a calm classroom. Katie has not always had this approach to teaching. When Katie began feeling burned out and depressed, she realized being high strung and having anxiety was not just a challenge faced by adults. This week's episode is about the murder of Katie/Denise Pladl.  Her parents Steven and Alyssa met were in an abusive relationship.  Steve beat Alyssa and pinched their baby at the time name Denise black and blue.  He even put the baby in a cooler to silence her crying.  Alyssa made the difficult decision to give her baby up for adoption to help escape the abuse.  She was adopted and renamed Katie by another couple the Fuscos.  Katie reconnected with her birth parents at age 18 and moved back in with them.  After moving in Steven started an incestuous relationship with his daughter.  After getting married and having a child with HIS DAUGHTER, Katie realized he was an awful abusive man and broke things off.  He killed her, their baby boy and her adoptive father in a jealous rage.
