This episode begins with covering the last paragraph of chapter 6 with interaction with Julia Murdock's brother in Salt Lake City, Bishop Murdock. Chapter 7 is entitled Youthful Days and first sub heading, Farmer Rucker. While Joseph Smith lll's stepdad Major Bidamon was away in California for a year or so, Farmer Rucker sublet the Mansion House and farm along with his family and Joseph Smith lll became a farm hand with them, enjoying milking their cows and hawling hay. A couple of domestic incidences are related about selfishness of one of the family eating half a bowl of strawberries at dinner, leaving one half between 6 people. Joseph Smith lll spoke his mind. He helped show how to milk a cow effectively and enjoyed hard work on the farm and working with the animals. Joseph Smith lll mentions being 17 at this time and that when his stepdad returned he was unhappy to see an enemy of his had been let a portion of the farm. There is an interation where laughter ensues due to the enemy Mr Dundy thinking a gun was being pulled on him by Major Bidamon, but was in actual fact a bottle of whiskey. Joseph Smith lll said the laughter was from the anti-climax.
