For 1700 years the church has celebrated this festival opening Holy Week with hosannas and palm branches. The time for Christ’s glory has come. But he will not gain his glory in the manner of other kings. Rather, he would humble himself in great acts of love for us to save us. His choice of a donkey to enter Jerusalem was humble, but his actions were not. With his actions, he proclaimed, “I am the Lord’s Servant, the Messiah long promised.
