Welcome to the Daily Challenge, it's your host Jake Wilkins. Today, one thing that I wanted to talk about was prosperity comes from patience and persistence. Wow, that is an absolute mouthful. So as I've been looking throughout my past 23 years of life, I've really thought about ways that we as humans continue to be persistent in what we do on a day-to-day basis.
We're definitely creatures of habit. Whether good or bad habits, we form over a lifetime. And as we look at the way that we're wired as humans, we're wired to have this drive and this desire to do something greater than just be ourselves. And we're called to do greater things than to just be where we're at right now, tomorrow, in a week from now, and a month from now, a year from now.
We're called to always move forward and always be persistent. Be persistent what we do. Now, in today's society, I feel like there are so many times that we're not patient. We've had so many things that were so quick in our lives, that have happened so quickly in our lives, that it really has challenged us, especially as a younger generation, to be patient in what we do in our lives.
So I'm going to tie this back into a little thing that I remember when I was a kid. When I was a kid, I grew up on a farm and we had this thing called dial-up internet. Now, if you can remember dial-up internet, you can remember how patient you had to be with the internet connecting. I really can remember this very vividly was you couldn't be on phone when the dial-up internet was coming up.
If you were on the internet, you basically took down the whole phone system and whole half-mile radius. It was nuts. We had to wait for probably five to ten minutes to even connect to the internet. Then when it got connected, it would be slower than it would be so, so slow.
Now, today, we've got three GLTE and four GLTE and we're mad when our Netflix doesn't load and we're wondering what the heck is happening with our router and our house if we don't have internet in five seconds and we're really just being trained to not have patience. So, I'm going to challenge you today with this is in what areas over your life do you need to be more patient? In what areas of your life do you need to continue to grow in patients so that when opportunities do come, you know that they're good opportunities and you can take them? I've been listening to a podcast where it's a great individual who really helps me to think more deeply into why we think the way that we do.
His name is J.C. Young and his podcast is called Legacy Farmer and it's talking about how we, as individuals, are leaving a legacy for not only ourselves but our kids and their kids and talking about the opportunities that there are in agriculture but it really helps us to think about or mean as an individual to think more about how can I leave a legacy for what I'm doing and challenge other people to think about different ways in which they need to be challenged on a day to day basis so that they can become better versions of themselves. So, prosperity comes from patience and persistence. That's what this is all about.
So, I challenge you in your day to day life what is one thing that you need to be more patient about? What is one thing that you need to be more persistent about? And I talked about this in other podcasts but really I really think that today we need to challenge ourselves to be more patient not only with others but also our situation and our circumstances. We need to be more patient and be willing to jump at opportunities as they come because if we are not patient and looking at opportunities as they arise and if we're just saying yes to every single opportunity that we have whether big or small then your yeses aren't really that unique.
Your nose really are not that unique. So, if you're saying yes to a lot of things and know to just a few things then everyone is just going to continue to think of you as just saying yes and that yes is not going to be worth as much as if you you're saying no to some things. So, I challenge you to be patient with others in yourself and then really persist really persist on the things that you want to achieve in your day to day life. Really think about one thing that you want to be persistent about whether that's given a compliment to someone else whether that's making sure that someone else is feeling valued whether that is reading reading every single day really just think about the way that you can be more persistent and that you can be more patient on a day to day basis so that you can be more grateful and have grateful heart and be prosperous.
I hope this helped out. Thank you for listening. We'll catch you next time. This has been another episode of The Daily Challenge.
