PDAMX#X.1- Critical Critique of Hearing Hearing
from Plausible Deniability AMX · host Plausible Deniability AMX
Today we talk with Brother X about Peter Szendy’s book “Listen: A History of Our Ears. Specifically we discuss chapter 2, which makes some pretty philosophical points about whether people degrade arrangements more in modern times than they did prior to 1773. He also puts forth the idea that the arrangement works in tandem with the original work to strive towards a sort of ideal "Work". We do some post hoc dunking on Liszt, Schumann, and Berlioz as well, but of course it’s all in good fun…. Disclaimer: All opinions are our own, respectively, and don't represent any institution we may or may not be a part of, respectively.
