People in Sligo urged to rent a room to students

Sligo ATU Students Union are encouraging people who may have a spare room to consider renting it out to a student. The scheme allows people who let a spare room to students to earn up to €14,000 a year Tax Free. It's also said to be very flexible, with it being possible to opt for 5 or 7 day weekly lettings, and it is also available to council tenants as well as home owners. Local Labour Cllr Nessa Cosgrove is echoing the calls, describing the scheme as good stopgap in alleviating what is a major student accommodation crisis here:
