POEM FROM TAMIL LITERATURE-THE ETERNAL BOND OF EARTH AND WATER

from BEYOND THE OBVIOUS · host Purushothaman C

ABOUT THE POEM : The poem THE ETERNAL BOND OF EARTH AND WATER celebrates the interconnectedness of life highlighting the earth and water as the foundation of existence. It reflects on the vastness and resilience of nature, the beauty of Kanchi's fertile lands and the grandeur of fortified cities safeguarding their wealth. It underscores humanity's dependence on natural resources, urging careful stewardship to sustain life and honor the divine forces that nurture the world. The poem calls for respect and gratitude towards the elements that sustain life and reminds us of our responsibility to preserve them for future generations. THE ETERNAL BOND OF EARTH AND WATER A King's Legacy  that bridged the  seas, By might and valor, claiming history's decrees,  Let your reign flourish, time's swift sands defy,  And carve your name upon the endless sky.  The fields of Kanchi, low and rare, With flowers scenting the fragrant air, Where streams of fish in brilliance gleam, Through rocky paths and silent stream. A fortress high with walls so grand, Defends the wealth of ancient land; Though riches sought may wander far, Strength guards the world with valor’s spar. Life springs from earth and water’s grace, A gift divine in nature’s embrace; From fertile soil, where water's bounty flows, A king's true legacy, a harvest grows.
