Postgame Show: The Los Angeles Lakers are NBA champions

from Lakers Lounge · host Anthony Irwin

The Los Angeles Lakers dominated from start to finish on Sunday night in Game 6 of the NBA Finals, winning 106-93 to capture the NBA title. In one of their most dominant defensive performances of the season, Anthony Davis and the Lakers used a stifling defense to outscore the Heat 36-16 in the second quarter, including a 28-4 run to end the half, to come away with the win. LeBron James was named Finals MVP after notching yet another Finals triple-double on Sunday with 28 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists. Davis added 19 points, 15 rebounds and 3 blocks while anchoring a defense that surrendered just 58 points through the opening three quarters and held the Heat to 36.2% shooting from the field in that span. Playoff Rondo made one last appearance with 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting to go along with four rebounds and four assists. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope continued his strong Finals with 17 points. Anthony Irwin and Jacob Rude reacted to the Lakers winning their first title in a decade in the aftermath of Sunday's game. The two share what the win means to them personally after starting their writing careers in the middle of bad Lakers teams and also touch on what this season means to Lakers fans.
