Programme Design Considerations

from The Chris Knott Podcast · host Chris Knott

Episode #109 - Programming Considerations***I was delighted by the response from the gen pop considerations podcast I did with James Sutton. It was great to get so many people giving feedback on how they found it useful and applicable. As this was the case, I wanted to continue with the same theme but this time in a solo outing.***Personal training can be a tough job. It’s hard enough to build a reputation and client base but even more frustrating when the latest influencer or coach is speaking in absolutes about how you should and shouldn’t train people. I wanted to shine some light on this situation by explaining exactly what I’d do and why with a “gen pop” client. I discuss how I evolved to this thought process and what you can do in order in improve your skill set as a coach.***I think as trainers it’s very important to absorb absolutely everything and then just observe. The awesome thing about being a trainer is that you get to learn every single day. See the gym as a lab; you don’t have to come up with crazy exercises but you should be watching how (and why) your clients move. Exercise design is very much like problem solving. The goal is to stimulate the tissue, the problem may be the restriction in the joint/tissue. The better you get at accommodating for this, the better you get as a trainer.***Interested in what I have to say? The episode is now live on Spotify and iTunes “The Chris Knott Podcast”
