South Africa has been dubbed the protest capital of the world, with one of the highest rates of public protests in the world. Recently, this has been evident in the service delivery protests in Vuwani. The events began in the Limpopo province, where more than twenty schools were burned by citizens and Hamaanskraal, where protesting against land evictions took place, where two red ants’ members were killed. These events were nothing new to South Africa, as it was reported that there 540 protests in the province of Gauteng between 1 April and 10 May 2013.
