Rachel Adams: Oral History Interview
from The Oregon Wine History Archive Podcast · host The Oregon Wine History Archive
This interview is with Rachel Adams of Assemblage. In this interview, Rachel talks about how she got into the wine industry coming from an anthropology background, her previous work experience, and when she knew it was time to be self-employed and create Assemblage. She goes on to speak about the meaning and motives behind Assemblage, her intent to bring women together for empowerment and education within the industry, and what she noticed when having these conversations. Rachel notes that the meaning of Assemblage in French is to bring together already finished wines and create something already better— something she hopes women take away from the event: that “you are already complete.” Towards the end of the interview, she talks about the organization’s goals, its next steps, and how the industry has changed in terms of diversity and inclusion. Rachel concludes by reflecting on the future for the industry, and for herself. This interview was conducted by Rich Schmidt at the Allison Inn & Spa on February 4, 2020.
