Remembering Loved Ones Lost in Sandy Creek Floods | Texas News
from Texas News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
One year after the deadly Central Texas floods that claimed over 130 lives, sisters Sherry McCutcheon and Terry Traugott still carry the unbearable weight of losing their mother Betty and brothers Gary and Doug. Clinging to a necklace and voice recordings, they relive their loved ones’ final moments — especially Gary’s harrowing 911 call, where he described being trapped in floodwaters, fighting to save his dogs, and drowning. The sisters say hearing his terror haunts them daily. Yet, they’re determined to honor their family not as a statistic, but as real people — using recordings to keep their voices alive. On July 5th, a community memorial will gather at the Historic Round Mountain School in Leander at noon to remember those lost. If you wish to help, contact [email protected].
