On this week's episode, Bruce has special guest Dr. Allen Lycka, a retired cosmetic surgeon, a writer, and a speaker. Dr. Lycka starts out with a story about a tragic misdiagnosis that changed his life forever. He discusses how he went through the 5 stages of grief and how it impacted his life. Later he talks about how the internet helped lead him to find someone who had been misdiagnosed with ALS as well and found out he had a lime disease from a tick. Dr. Lycka found a doctor in Colorado who would be able to help him. The treatment, to Dr. Lycka's surprise, was able to help him recover rapidly, even though there was some permanent damage to his right arm and leg. Through this trial, Dr. Lycka was able to have a perspective change and wanted to use his time on earth to help others. This helped motivate him to sponsor, "The Women of Distinction" by the WCA. His promotion of women helped him meet Harriet Tinka and together they co-authored the book, "The Secret to Living a Fantastic Life." Dr. Lycka also has a podcast where guests come on and discuss their trials and triumphs. He has been called the doctor of happiness, he explains this later in the program with Bruce and talks about how we must use happiness in our lives.
