Revelation 1:8 - "The Lord God Almighty"

from Pastor Mike Impact Ministries · host Michael L Grooms

In Revelation 1:8, at the very beginning of this last book in the Bible we read, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End," says the Lord, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty." God simply declares that He is also “the Almighty”, which means that He is able to do anything. “Almighty” is a key name for God in Revelation reminding us that He has the power and authority to fulfill every prophecy and promise that He has ever made concerning His plan and purpose for the earth and mankind! Look at these verses with me and be encouraged today! In Revelation 4:8, we have our first worship scene in heaven and we see: “The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: "Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!" In Revelation 11:16-17, after the seventh angel sounds his trumpet we have another worship scene: “And the twenty-four elders who sat before God on their thrones fell on their faces and worshiped God, saying: "We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty, The One who is and who was and who is to come, Because You have taken Your great power and reigned.” In Revelation 15:3-4, just before the seven angels pour out the seven last plagues there is another worship scene: “They sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying: "Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints! Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. For all nations shall come and worship before You, For Your judgments have been manifested." In Revelation 16:7, before the fourth angel pours out his bowl of wrath we read: “And I heard another from the altar saying, "Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are Your judgments."  And also in Revelation 16:14, after the sixth angel pours out his bowl we read again: “For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.” In Revelation 19:6, after the judgments of God are completed we have another worship scene in heaven: “And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, "Alleluia! For the Lord God Almighty reigns! In Revelation 19:15, when Jesus comes back with the armies of heaven: “From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty.” And finally in Revelation 21:22, John sees the New Jerusalem and notices: “But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.” As we read this title of God over and over again in this final book of the Bible we should be encouraged to know from the beginning to the end that there is nothing too hard for our God to accomplish! You can trust Him with anything and everything in your life today! God bless!
