Rhode Island Weather: 02-21-2026

from The Rhode Island Weather Podcast

Good evening! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the Rhode Island Weather Podcast for Saturday, February 21st. Folks, here's the deal. That dusting of snow we picked up overnight? That was just the appetizer. A monster nor'easter is barreling toward us, and it means business. The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning for the entire state starting Sunday afternoon through Tuesday morning. Right now you're sitting at about 36 degrees under cloudy skies. Enjoy the calm. Tonight, there's a slight chance of light snow around 8 or 9, then patchy fog. Lows drop to 23 degrees around 12 degrees A.M. Sunday starts quiet. Cloudy, highs near 36 again. Then after 12 degrees P.M., snow begins. And it doesn't stop. Here's where it gets serious. Sunday night into Monday, this storm explodes. Down around Providence, you're looking at 6 to 10 inches by dawn Monday. Winds gusting to 41 miles an hour. Low of 27 degrees. Head toward Narragansett Bay and it's even nastier. Gusts hitting 51 miles an hour. 7 to 11 inches before sunrise. Monday is the main event. Snow falling 2 to 4 inches an hour. Providence sees another 15 to 21 inches with gusts to 47 miles an hour. The Bay gets hammered too. Gusts to 54 miles an hour. Total snowfall across Rhode Island? One to two feet. Whiteout conditions. Travel will be impossible. Coastal flooding is a real concern Monday morning at high tide. You'll want to prepare tonight. Stock up, charge devices, secure anything outside. Here's your heads up for the week ahead. Tuesday brings sunshine and a breather. Highs in the low 30s. Wednesday brings more light snow. Thursday and Friday turn to a rain and snow mix as temperatures climb into the upper 30s and low 40s. One more thing. If this forecast helped you prepare, share it with a neighbor. Storms like this are easier when we look out for each other. Stay safe out there, folks. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
