Rhode Island Weather 3/6 Morning - 33° Below Normal

from The Rhode Island Weather Podcast

Good morning. Rhode Island. I'm Aaron Jolly. That rain you heard overnight? We picked up over half an inch statewide. And it's not quite done with us yet. Step outside right now and you're catching light rain and fog, with temps stuck at 36 degrees — running 33 degrees below our early March normal. Today. Rain tapers to drizzle by mid-morning, but the fog and dampness hang around through early afternoon. Providence tops out at 36 degrees with northeast winds gusting to 23 miles an hour. Down along Narragansett Bay. Here comes 37 degrees with stronger gusts to 25 miles an hour off the water. Cloudy, damp. And gray all day — the kind of weather that makes you want to stay in pajamas. Tonight, the drizzle finally fades. Patchy fog lingers as temps drop to 33 in Providence and 35 along the Bay. Watch for slick spots where water pooled during the day — temps flirt with freezing overnight. Saturday brings a welcome change. That fog clears by mid-morning. And while clouds stick around, we warm nicely to 49 degrees in Providence. The Bay stays cooler at 45. South winds pick up, signaling milder air ahead. Here's your weekend outlook. Saturday night brings rain likely as a warm front moves through — lows in the low 40s. Sunday sees lingering showers early, then clearing skies push temps into the mid-50s. Much better. Next week turns unseasonably mild. Monday hits 60 degrees under sunny skies. Tuesday climbs to 62 — that's 33 degrees above normal for early March. Wednesday brings a chance of showers as a cold front approaches, then we cool back to the 50s Thursday. If you're enjoying these daily updates, a quick rating goes a long way. See you tomorrow.
