from Ocean FM News Reports

Gardai in Sligo have confirmed that a number of safety measures are being progressed for  Ballinacarrow. There’s major concern locally over the speed some motorists are travelling through the village, which is situated along the N17. Figures released today by chief superintendent Aidan Glackan show that a total of 123 Garda checkpoints have been conducted at Ballinacarrow since last year - 83 in 2023 and 41 so far this year. Gardai say that an application has been submitted to GoSafe with a view towards having the speed detection van there on a regular basis. They’ve also confirmed that an application has been made for fixed speed cameras to be installed on the approach roads, as part of a nationwide rollout. Pupils and staff of the local St. Lasarra NS have been campaigning for action, teacher Jane Harding has been giving her reaction to the update from the Gardai:
