Romans 1 - Responding to The Calling of God

from Pastor Mike Impact Ministries · host Michael L Grooms

Today, Friday December 18 – Romans – Life is difficult to say the least! So, what can keep you motivated and going when everything is falling apart all around you? I’m sure there are several things that would help you, but on the top of my list would be the “calling of God” upon your life. In the first verses of Romans 1:1-7, at least three times we read about the “call”.  Paul makes it very clear that his motivation and the driving force in his life and ministry was that he clearly believed that God had called him to be an apostle. The word apostle means, “one who is sent.” The word “missionary” is the Latin form of “apostle.” I personally believe every believer is called by call to take the Good News of Jesus Christ to everyone we can. What greater purpose can you have in life? If you feed a person a meal, you might help him for a few hours, but if you feed a person the Gospel and they trust and believe in the Lord for their eternal salvation, you have helped a person for eternity! In verse 6, Paul said they were “called to belong to Jesus.” Everyone who has ever been born has been called to belong to Jesus. The Lord is “not willing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9) God “desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:4) And last, in verse 7, God calls us “saints”. We don’t make ourselves saints by our religious activity but the Lord Himself has “set us apart to be holy” for His divine purposes! Do you know your callings today? Have you responded to them? God bless!
