Today, theater critic J. Wynn Rousuck joins Tom with her review of Ain't Too Proud--The Life and Times of the Temptations, now playing at the Kennedy Center. The Broadway-bound musical showcases one of the most influential R----B groups in the history of contemporary music. We see how five young men are discovered by Motown Records producer Berry Gordy (played by Jhai Kearse) on the streets of Detroit, and how they become the legends known as ----The Classic Five,---- rising to the top of the charts amid the political and civil unrest in America during the 1960s and '70s.----My Girl,---- ----Just My Imagination,---- and ----Papa Was a Rolling Stone---- are just a few of the hits that enliven the show, whose book is by the Kennedy Prize-winning playwright Dominique Morisseau, based on Otis Williams' original book, The Temptations.
