It's been a long long road to get to this point in his career, a rewarding yet challenging experience. Since the loss of his beloved father, Alex found a pathway into his own self unlike anything he could have ever predicted. The event took quite the toll to the point where he veered away from the world to focus on his own craft – and the result is some of his best work. Dare we say, his magnum opus. Alex chats with us about this experience along with the many others he has encountered in his life, and even though it's a mix of the good, the bad, and the ugly, he is grateful he overcame an exponential amount of those obstacles. His newest album “Standing Under Bright Lights'', which is a live concert performed and recorded at the Montreal Jazz Festival from 2019, is one of the most dedicated and passionate works of art from a musician in recent memory. Alex talks about that specific time, and the days leading up to it - from the first request to perform, to nearly not taking the stage, and to then finishing the job to a full sense of closure that gave him the peace he needed to carry out his fathers memory, and legacy.
