S1 E17. The ghost of John Fenwick

One summer when I had just turned 14, I met Major John Fenwick, a wealthy, exquisitely dressed and charming 96-year old who lived a lonely but luxurious life. I was naive then. Now that I recall the events of that summer in London, during a school holiday, I thank the universe that I acted on my intuition. But I'm also grateful for that brief friendship. John gave me so much that changed the course of my life. He gave me Ella Fitzgerald, Cole Porter, the Gershwins, Roald Dahl, Jane Austen, Dickens and the Bronté sisters. He had inadvertently planted a seek in my heart that for a long time remained dormant. Until one day when I was ready, it bloomed.
