She is Research Scientist in the Biospheric Sciences Lab at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center based in Maryland, USA, where she studies forest ecology and ecosystem structure with multi-source remote sensing. Dr. Fatoyinbo has a Doctorate in Environmental sciences from University of Virginia, with a focus on Forest Ecology and Remote Sensing of Mangrove Wetlands.
