S3-02 REASON FOR, & RESPONSE TO, ADVERSITY

Let us not just talk about being saved. Salvation requires our active participation, for Jesus "gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father." (Galatians 4:1) Evidence of our salvation should include a discernable list of discarded pagan customs and traditions. Conversion necessitates change. Then, as we grow in God, He helps us eliminate all unnecessary weights, hindrances, and homage paid to the "god of this world." Brother Desmond R. Singh urges God's people: "In the day of adversity, consider!" (Ecclesiastes 7:14)
