S3-82 BE STRONG IN THE LORD

Psalm 22:3 declares that God is holy, and He inhabitest the praises of His people. Nevertheless, “God is a Spirit {being}: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24). In our last lesson, we focused on the reality that “the carnal mind is enmity {or hostile} against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So, then they that are in the flesh cannot please God” (Romans 8:7-8). If we miss God in the worship service, we have missed Him for the entire service. The devil is a master counterfeiter. His subtleness can create an impression that God’s Spirit is present in our worship when He is not. Sadly, millions do not realize the difference. We must never underestimate the strength of our enemy. Far more of his ministers occupy pulpits than ministers called by God. When we read the prophets of old, they were confronting Israel’s rebellion. If the “apple of God’s eye—Israel—fell into apostasy, what makes us feel immune today?
