S4-48 I WON’T COMPLAIN

Aging brings many physical discomforts. If it were not for faith, we could quickly become discouraged as the conclusion of our lives draws near.  Solomon wrote: Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them” (Ecclesiastes 12:1). He called old age “the evil days.”  Tonight’s service focused on gratitude to God despite our aches and pains and the miseries often accompanying aging.  And yet, death can be considered a blessing, for: “The righteous perisheth and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come” (Isaiah 57:1).
