S4-54 IMPORTANCE OF DOCTRINE

Jesus was particular about who received his gospel when he was on earth. When the disciples asked Jesus why he taught in parables, he said, “Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them, {the Pharisees & religious elite} it is not given”(Matthew 13:11). “Therefore, I speak to them in parables: because seeing they see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.” (V.13) So, a nation called by God, and steeped in religion found themselves blind and deaf to God’s will. To launch Christ’s church on earth, Jesus bypassed the traditional Jewish religious sects with their learned doctors of the law to choose twelve unsophisticated disciples.  Had you been among that group, you would have been branded an “unlearned and ignorant” cult follower.
