This lesson connects with last Wednesday: “SCRIPTURE FOR US.” While we are a part of the church that started at Pentecost almost 2000 years ago, we differ significantly from that body of believers. The church launched by the Apostles had the power and authority we lack today. And as we have previously learned, the early church did not have a Bible. The Old Testament scrolls were held in the temple, and the New Testament, as we know it, would only be written for years to come. The New Testament was a result of the New Testament church.
