S5 Ep 7B | Richella Parham on John 21 (Peter 7)

from So Much More: Scripture Meditation (Lectio Divina) · host Jodie Niznik - Lectio Divina and Scripture Meditation Instructor

Richella Parham is the author of Mythical Me: Finding Freedom from Constant Comparison. She also co-host’s the Friends in Formation podcast and serves as a member of the Ministry Team for Renovaré. Her heart is to help people dismantle their preconceived myths about identity and worth as a way to help them clear a path for surrendering to our compassionate God.   Take a few minutes to meditate on John 21 and then tune into this interview to hear where God led Richella.   Some highlights from our conversation: God’s encouragement to Richella that she can be presumptuous with him – when it comes to him always meeting her with grace and love. No matter what. What the Lord helped her notice about Peter’s “more than” confidence before he denied Jesus and how Jesus reframed this with his questions to Peter about loving him “more than.” That even though it must have been really important for Peter to know what would happen to John, Jesus said he didn’t need to know. What was most important was following God – not worrying about others. How Richella used to create a “mythical” woman in her head that was the best of everyone – and how God invited her to let go of and reframe this tendency to one that celebrates the attributes of others instead of envying them. John 21:15-22, NIV *Note a few words have been removed from v. 20 to keep the passage focused on Peter   15 When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.” 16 Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.” 17 The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep. 18 Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” 19 Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!” 20 Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. … 21 When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?” 22 Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.” Discover more Christian podcasts at lifeaudio.com and inquire about advertising opportunities at lifeaudio.com/contact-us.

The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
