Season 1: MONEY Episode

from Mindset Monday · host Drew DeMaree | Business Coach & Trainer

Guest - David Wright https://richmond.herggroup.com/agents/154830-David-Wright/ https://share.personalcapital.com/x/6OCyEA Pain vs pleasure is something we learn about in sales yet when it comes to the topic of money it is the root of it 100% When I start to correct and work on things that are painful, I notice that I then get started in the right direction and then self sabotage ourselves. It is just me? I noticed I self sabotage myself when it comes to money In order to eliminate self money sabotage, I am learning that I must change how I look at money. Reprogram or recondition your brain around money Condition ourselves on what money is, our mind is like a muscle, just like other muscles I didn’t grow up wealthy.  A quick story. I promise they will be quick My mom working at RCA factory made records ( I was an 80’s kid) and my dad worked in construction. I had a good childhood. It was not lavish or over the top. I would say on the lower end of middle class. I went to college and I had to work to pay for college so I decided to work for Macy’s. Kim said interview for Nordstrom - I thought. I can’t do that. I don’t have that kind of money. They would see right thru me. I got the job worked form then, got promoted and was one of the youngest managers in the company, at the time. Money mindset for me: More money may lead to more pain.  What? People will think I am greedy. People may think I am more important than they are. Creates a divide among my friends or family. I just want to feel normal in my friends or family and blend in. Abundance of money is unknown, I am scared of the unknown. Shift in my money mindset: I am already wealthy. Free myself the illusion of that I am already wealthy - wealth is not just money. Leverage, someone else's back or effort. Like attracts like. It is ok to better myself and my family with more money.  Already intelligent, so do not become smarter. I am a good husband but do I not work to be a better husband? So from about 18 yrs old till a few years ago, I honestly thought if I earned more money, my beliefs around money would change. I can tell you I was wrong. Working harder is not the answer. I have worked to make $11,000 in one year and I have also made $11,000 in one day. Again not to impress you. It's my perspective of my mindset around money. What do you associate with money?  Positive words:  Freedom, time with loved ones, less stress, security, peace of mind, less bills Negative words or phrases: What were you taught about money growing up? Money is the root of all evil, money is not everything. Money doesn't grow on trees, we can't afford it. It costs to much. PODCAST MINDSET MONDAY QUOTE: Money is only a tool. It will take you wherever you wish, but it will not replace you as the driver - AYN RAND
