Seeing Clearly In Your Relationships

Glasses come in different lenses, each with a purpose – from blue-light-blocking to reading to distance.

We also wear lenses through which we see our relationships. Some of us may put on lenses of abandonment. Others of fear or betrayal.

Whichever lens we choose, the lens through which we see our relationships tends to determine what happens in them.

So, which lens do you want to put on?

✔️ Be clear about your default lenses. We wear default lenses because of our upbringing and what's been ingrained in our nervous systems. Do your lenses serve you? You have the choice to change them.

✔️ Put on the lens of noticing the good. Through this lens, you can appreciate what's working well in your relationship. You'll see green flags you can be grateful for.

✔️ Grow your capacity to wear multiple lenses. A client was experiencing a difficult situation with a loved one. She was able to find another way to see the situation that was more life-affirming and had more possibility for growth in it. There's always an opening available for change.

✔️ Changing lenses requires access to new lenses. Most of us get so wedded to a singular point of view through which we look at our relationships. Try on a new pair of lenses to see something new about your relationship… but only if you're willing.
