Seek the Joy

Morning Mantra: “You either live a life of struggle with occasional joy, or you live a life of joy with occasional struggle. It’s up to you.”I read this the other day and it really hit me hard.  I have been feeling like I have been struggling lately, but I know that life is supposed to be full of joy. It’s supposed to be enjoyable. We are supposed to be in-joy.  Of course, I understand that there will be things I struggle with here and there, but life isn’t supposed to BE a struggle.The trick is you must see, find, and feel the joy instead of the struggle. We must seek it out. There is joy EVERYWHERE! See the joy in the flowers, in the blue sky, a sunset, in your child’s smile, in the shine of your horse’s coat.Hear the joy in your cat’s purr, in your child’s laugh, in music, in crickets, in a bird’s song.Feel the joy in a hug, in a warm bath, with your bare feet in the dewy grass, in the softness of your blanket, in the flavor of a good meal.The more you look for joy and find it, the more strength you will have for the occasional struggle.
