It only brings you down. It does not lift you up. It’s not a motivator of change. You’ve been criticizing yourself for years, try approving of yourself and see what happens. Try extending yourself some compassion instead.  Unlike self-criticizing, which asks if you’re good enough compared to others, self-compassion gets you to ask yourself what is good for you.  What is serving you. What is it that you have to offer.
