These days, we’re constantly bombarded with messages about how we should practice self love and be kind to ourselves… yet no matter how much we try to replace our habitual negative self-talk with positive affirmations, most of us still feel like crap in our own company. Rather than fighting to move from one extreme (self-criticism and hatred) to another extreme (exclusively positive “self-love”), self-compassion and self-forgiveness practices allow us to more easily create a new experience of ourselves and learn how to motivate change and forward momentum from a more peaceful, sustainable place.  In this episode, we explore why it’s so hard to be self-compassionate and forgive ourselves, how we use negative self-talk to motivate change, the idea that being accepting of ourselves would cause laziness and complacency, and how better life becomes when we have made compassion our default lens of seeing ourselves and the world around us.
