Yet despite its maturity, the increasing complexity of industrial systems continues to challenge traditional high fidelity modeling workflows, raising concerns about their long term sustainability and scalability. In parallel, the broad and often transformative narrative surrounding artificial intelligence has generated both enthusiasm and anxiety within the simulation community. This seminar aims to critically examine the impact of scientific machine learning on the landscape of simulation based engineering. Beyond presenting recent methodological advances, we will address the persistent challenges associated with integrating data driven tools into established physics based pipelines. Emphasis will be placed on understanding not only what these techniques can accelerate or automate, but also the extent to which their adoption can generate tangible, measurable impact in industrial product development processes.Haysam TelibAfter graduating in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Munich, Haysam Telib earned a PhD in Fluid Mechanics from Politecnico di Torino and a PhD in Acoustics from École Centrale de Lyon, with a dissertation on the aeroacoustic optimization of aeronautical propellers. During his postdoctoral work at the University of Bordeaux and Politecnico di Torino, he was appointed Visiting Researcher at Boeing, where he contributed to the development of acceleration techniques for aeroelastic optimization. In 2010, he co founded OPTIMAD as a spin off of Politecnico di Torino, pioneering the industrial adoption of Reduced Order Modeling. After leading the company for 15 years as CEO and CTO, OPTIMAD was acquired and merged by ESTECO. Since then, he has been overseeing the expansion of ESTECO's portfolio in the field of data driven modeling.
