Sheriff Alex Villanueva is a Chicago born law enforcement who served as the 33rd sheriff of the biggest county in the entire nation - County of Los Angeles.Mr Villanueva defeated incumbent sheriff Jim McDonnell in 2018 and became the first candidate who unseated the incumbent sheriff in over 100 years.Alex served in the United States military for 10 years including United States Air Force. He started his police career in 1986 by becoming a deputy sheriff. Then he climbed the career ladder and became a sergeant, lieutenant and the first democratic sheriff in almost 140 years.Sheriff lost his re-election in 2022 to Robert Luna.
