Shift 009 - What Rescuing Really Does

from Shifted · host Kimberly Romano

As heart-led entrepreneurs, it’s natural to want to jump in and help when we see someone struggling. We believe we’re being supportive, generous, and kind. But here’s the truth bomb my mentor dropped on me: you can’t be a rescuer without making someone else a victim. In this shift, I share the moment this perspective landed for me, and how it completely changed the way I show up for clients, colleagues, and even loved ones. Jumping in too quickly doesn’t just drain your energy, it can strip others of the opportunity to find their own strength, build confidence, and grow through the challenge. The invitation here is to pause. To ask, “Do they really need me to step in right now, or do they just need to know I’m here if they ask?” Because trust is the greatest gift you can give someone: trust that they’re capable of figuring it out. This week, practice holding space instead of rescuing. You may be surprised by what shifts in both you and them.Hi, I'm Kimberly Romano, Indian wedding photographer, turned brand photographer, and human design reader.
