Advent 2016 – The Messiah - Advent is a season observed in the Christian church as a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus at Christmas. This season we are using both the music and scripture texts of Handel’s Messiah as a guide to make our journey to the manger. Handel’s musical work is well known and has been part of Advent and Christmas celebrations for centuries. Messiah Series with Ross Nichols Messiah Series with Ross Nichols of United Israel World Union teaches informative series of lessons on the subject of Messiah. These classes will present the subject from a biblical and Hebraic perspective. In this, our introductory class on Messiah, Ross shows the meaning of the word according to its use in the Torah. Using both the biblical texts as well as examples, Ross illustrates the ancient Hebrew concept of anointing objects and people.
