SITB 189 feat. Janika Tenn (DJ/Producer)

from Sherm In The Booth · host Sherm In The Booth

Episode 189 features the incredibly talented DJ/Producer Janika Tenn! Janika and I have been trying to line up an interview date for awhile and I'm so glad we finally got a chance to get her full story. 📖 In 189 we got in all in discussed: •Journey Into Music: Janika was born and raised on an island off the coast of Estonia and eventually was exposed to drum and bass music in her early teens. She moved to London at the age of 17 and found herself becoming more immersed in the dance music scene in the UK as a DJ/Producer. In 2009, she released her first track "Make This Groove" on Cr2 Records (a globally recognized label) and hasn't looked back since. 🙌🏻 •Discography: Since Janika's first release, she has produced a wide variety of genres including deep house, tech house, tribal/afro, and even disco. Her unique ability to fuse genres together has helped create tracks like "Satisfy" with Todd Terry via Inhouse Records, "Shrooms" with Vanilla Ace via Erase Records, The "After Hour" EP via Hood Politics Records, and "Reach The Tribe" Via Flamingo Records. We went deep on each release and talked about the inspiration and story behind how they all came together. 🎵 •Social Media: The Double Edged Sword: Janika's first release was in 2009 and she has first hand seen how much social media has changed the way artists share their music and build their followings. We discussed that although social media provides artists a platform to grow, it comes with a multitude of expectations and tasks that musicians must adhere to. Loved this portion of the interview! ❤️‍🔥 I've been dropping Janika Tenn tracks for years now and it was such a blast connecting with her - she's awesome!! Make sure to keep your eye on her in 2022, she's got 20 tracks in the bag that are dying to see the light of day! ☀️
