Sligo Councillor claims that Ireland’s ‘ticking bomb’ health care is putting lives at risk

from Ocean FM News Reports

A Sligo Councillor is warning that the situation where many people cant's get access to, or are unable to afford GP visit costs is placing the health of many and indeed several lives at risk in this region and throughout the Country.  Solidarity people Before Profit Gino O Boyle has described the Irish Health care system as ‘a ticking time bomb’. It's being claimed that some private patients are paying almost €50 more to see their family doctor. A new survey reveals how one in six are paying between €26 and €50 to see their GP, while over a third are paying between €51 and €75. The findings are found in an IPOS B&A poll for the Department of Health. The Sligo Councillor says the costs here are preventing people from attending GP's and as result conditions are not being diagnosed which in turn is reducing the patients chances of making a complete recovery and in some instances it’s leading to lives being lost.
