Sligo Forsa official pleads with government to act and avoid industrial action by section 39 workers
A Sligo based member of the Forsa Union’s National Executive says their union will be closely monitoring Monday’s Workplace Relations Commission hearing in relation to concerns being raised by Healthcare workers in Section 39 organisations before deciding on whether to take Industrial action Members of SIPTU, have voted overwhelmingly for strike action in a dispute over pay. Section 39 organisations are privately owned charities and agencies that are contracted by the State to provide healthcare services. The industrial action involves thousands of workers in 21 organisations across the country. Unions are accusing the Government of failing to honour a pay agreement struck at the WRC in October 2023. Pat Fallon says the government’s failure to honour pre-election promises has angered and disappointed many sector 39 workers.
