A Sligo Leitrim TD is standing by his decision in supporting Simon Harris to be Taoiseach. Many, including former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, believe that a General Election should have been called sooner rather than later. Independent Deputy Marc MacSharry believes that Simon Harris has been a huge supporter of improving third level education in Sligo.He has reiterated that now is not the time for an election:
